In my application to accept the offer for Commerce/Engineering in one of the steps it gives you a list of the majors for engineering, and I just decided to leave it unchecked hoping to come back later in the application form assuming that if I left it unchecked I would get a choice later. Can I change it to a specific major later or does this option even matter (as in what is its impact between choosing a specific major and leaving it unchecked/undetermined)

Engineering is very similar in the first year. Everyone pretty much do the same subjects more or less.

I believe that for UNSW, majors are due at the end of first year. Hence it's okay for you atm.

With that being said, if someone chose Civil now, they could easily change to Mechanical or another major at the end of first year.
