Depends what you like. If you like maths, then do maths..if you like english, choose HPSC.
I did maths, psyc, HPSC. I preferred HPSC.

is physics really necessary for 1st yr Med Sci?

oh my I am so confused with what elective to choose. I was gonna do physics (PHYS1111) because I thought it was a typical choice seeing that sydney uni 1st yr med science students have to do it and stuff. Im really not into the thought of studying physics and I doubt im going to major in anything involving physics, but I'm still unsure whether it is necessary for my future studies?? I would much rather do HPS or psychology but yeah.. help? :)

ps. to anyone that has studied HPS, what's it like?

You don't have to study physics, and I recommand you to do something else if you're not really into physics. Physics is NOT a prerequisites to ANY of your second year course and won't help you much. I did both psychology and HPS. I enjoyed HPS better because psyc is just plain boring to me.

Psyc has 5 contact hours, HPS has 3. HPS invovles a lot of literature reading, and essay. psychology you do many small class tests and write one report.

thanks for the insight :) HPSC1100 sounds interesting! did you do that one? if so is it difficult? I don't mind essays although I think I have forgotten how to write them as I have not lifted a pen since the last HSC exam hah.

I did HPSC1500.

ohh, and in HPS, you probably have to do a speaking task. Some HPS courses you do a presentation in tut, mine was to do a presentation in lecture, with a group.
