Say "Other assessments" is 50% and the final exam is 50%.

Ok so say I get all the "other assessments" which is 50% and then I fail the exams does that mean I failed the subject, even though I got 50% for the "othera assessments".

My friend told me about this so yea, could someone please tell me the right answer?

I know my subjects say that I need atleast a pass in the exam in order to have satisfactorily completed the subject.

I'm not sure if thats the case with all subjects.

It's different from subject to subject. For instance, in 2nd and 3rd year chem, you have to get >40% in both the theory and prac components, and a total of more than 50% in order to pass. That is, you can fail the exam or any component and still pass.

most subjects (read: 95% of my subjects) say that you have to hand in each piece of assessment, but as long as your total mark ends up to 50% or over, then you pass. You don't have to pass each and every assessment.
