For guys? Suits without a tie and the first few buttons undone on their shirt.
But it does usually depend on the venue.

If you must wear a tie, make sure it's bright-ish and in one colour.

I went to one last night and noticed that mint green ties were popular :/

I'd wear a nice suit, spread collared long sleeve shirt with french cuffs and I'd take a tie just in case.

I'd say casual-it-up by wearing a charcoal coloured suit, or a tan coloured one, which would be less formal than black. Some guys go for horrible novelty ties, stay away from that because it looks cheap and tacky.

I would recommend the nice charcoal suit, a shirt worn open-necked (no tie). I think it's best to choose between: (1) tie and no jacket; or (2) jacket and no tie; to keep it looking casual.

Is this a day or a night event?

EDIT: This is what I mean by charcoal.

I think ill end up just going with shirt and suit pants. It'll probably be warm anyway.
