just wanted to start this convo because there are loads of us 2025ers asking for advice on "comebacks" for hsc due to bad internal ranks. generally speaking, to some extent once your internals are over there is a certain limitation on the hsc mark you can get but i feel like the extent of that limitation sort of depends on a lot of factors (if someone that knows better can comment that would be great).

probably depends on:
  • rank
  • subject
  • school cohort (old b6 numbers coudl be an indicator)

its sort of hard to make a definitive comment on stuff bc hsc does count for a lot but imo sometimes even with a strong cohort and high scaling subjects etc the comeback really isnt easy and totally depends on your actual current and future performance and sometimes some part of it is out of your control.

I think students should stop thinking about factors outside of their control. Just keep grinding until the exam, expend your very best, put your soul into the work, and you will achieve the atar you want. How other people perform is outside your control, the rank of your school is outside your control, you can only influence your learning; your mind and your work.
