Hi everyone,

I did some forum searching on this, but it didn't entirely answer my questions. So here they are...

*How difficult is it to transfer from B.Com-Accg to the double degree of B.App.Fin with B.Com-Accg?

*If I was able to transfer, can I complete one degree before the other, and still be awarded the double degree?

Thanks in advance,
Luke.

I believe that you need a GPA of 2.5 to transfer into the double degree. So, I guess its difficulty depends on yourself.

In regards to your second question, I have heard of this. People are offered place after they have completed a degree. Then they work full/part-time and study the remaining year or two to complete the double degree requirements.

What advantages do you feel there are in transferring into the double degree?

Question 1: Page 30 of the 2006 Handbook -- A GPA of 2.25 with at least 12 cp
Question 2: I believe so.

Bah, Redrum. Bah! ;)

I'm hoping the added finance degree would allow me more movement career wise, although I'm aware there's a lot of other factors involved. I'm hoping it would give me skills suited to the banking industry.

I'm transferring from SIBT with a GPA of 3.13, I'm pretty sure my GPA will be wiped once I enter Macquarie, but I'll check at enrolment whether I can enter straight into the double degree from SIBT, although I doubt it.

I guess I'll have to actually put in some effort and get a good GPA for first year Macquarie, then transfer into the double degree upon completion of my second year.

redruM, you're doing Comm-Accg, can you double major in finance and accounting? And do you think there would be any advantages in doing the extra year for the extra degree?

Cheers to both of you,
Luke.

I think it has been mentioned somewhere, that there aren't "double majors" at macquarie. If you want to major in accounting and finance, your best bet would be to do the double degree.

I'm technically still enrolled in the double degree. I have been choosing to do subjects in order to qualify for the single BComm - Acccg degree. BUT, I had a moment of shock last night at about 2am about keeping the double. For further proof of the randomness, I actually checked up the course requirements, etc.: http://community.boredofstudies.org...y/102787/calling-my-app-fin-accg-buddies.html

Why did I decide to keep the double? I think it gives me a greater knowledge base for job prospects. Add to that, I have an interest in finance markets, I guess. As you can see I have completed 2 years of uni and still can decide either way. So my best bet would be not to worry too much about what you are going to do (double or single) and find out for yourelf.

Alright, thanks for the reply again.

I'll be sure to check out my options at enrolment, but it's good to know I've got a fair bit of time to make up my mind.
