So who's heading to Commerce @ Melbourne this year?

I'm one of only two students from my school to be studying it - out of about 400 offers. I'm thinking of specialising into Management and Marketing.

Maybe we should get to know each other, and our interests, so we have some basic contacts before the semester begins?

See you at enrolment - Monday 9am! (For straight commerce)

Cheers

Anyone planning on going on the Commerce Students Society (CSS) Camp? Or the O-Camp thing?

What were the gender ratios like at Law? Commerce seemed roughly 60/40 guys/girls.

Yeh I like the girl/guy ratio in commerce...lol In law it seems about 70/30 guy/girl, but that was comm/law double information system I am going from. I heard somewhere the guy/girl ratio for law overall is about 60/40 too

Welcome to melb uni everyone

Law is better than Commerce for girl/guy ratios (i.e. more girls) but Arts is the best by far. It won't be long till you see a long stream of 100 or so girls (and the odd 2 or 3 gay/desperate guys) stream out of a lecture theatre.

They should release official figures sometime soon shouldn't they? Haha its a pretty important piece of of information...

Anyone joining the Student union or anything like that? Are most commerce books easy to get second hand, or do they release new editions every year, forcing you to buy them new? I was looking through the Uni Book shop yesterday... commerce textbooks seemed to be around $100-$130....

I didn't join the union. I just didnt think it would benefit me that much, but maybe I will change my mind during the year and jump at the next opportunity to join.

So is everyone just doing the standard Bcom subjects? (T2C, quantitative methods, microeconomics, <strike>macroeconomics</strike>, organisational behaviour, accounting reports & analysis, in first semester)

Single commerce here doing acturial studies.
About 40 people from my school in commerce ^^
Enrollment day was so boring and useless. They wouldn't even let us enrol. Had to make an appointment at a later date to discuss subjects, even if u already knew what you wanted. I managed to sneak in and enrol with rural and interstate people though. :)
