Hey guys, this is my first year at the new catholic uni Notre Dame in Sydney. I'm enrolled in a b of Commerce (Marketing and Communications).

I'm a little worried as marketing and communications are quite different, and I'm concerned that I'm doing myself a diservice by choosing to partner these two majors.

I could be doing a b of commerce with Marketing and Management as the majors, but the communications major holds more interest to me than management.

I wanna ask, is it a bad idea to continue with the course I'm doing? It would not be a big deal to change over as most of the 1st year subjects are the same across all commerce courses. What sort of career oppurtunities do I have with marketing+communications? I don't want to go to an employer and have them tell me that my communications major is worthless to them, or the marketing major is worthless. Basically Im concerned that a b of commerce (marketing and communications) is too broad.

I would like to be involved in advertising, but I don't have a clear direction of where I want to go.

edit: also, another similiar course I can easily transfer to is a specialised b of marketing and PR.
