This is what i need to do:
Im doing EMAIL and i need to research:

a) Basic components: Data source; transmitter; transmission medium; receiver; destination. i need to explain each of these in an email eg. destination receivers inbox, others i dont know.

b) Information processes:Transmitting/receiving, organising, analysing, displaying, storing/retriving, processing, collecting. For storing/retriving I got it stores the email on the server or client pc and retrivs it from the same thing

c)Protocols: handshaking; speed of transmission; error checking. For speed of transmission I found that it depends on your connection and i have no idea what to talk about for handshacking and error checking.

d)network topology: what network topology email uses. I say it uses a combination of topologies.

e)Problems and maintance, Need to talk about this in my presentation on email

So this is what I need to talk about in my presentation on email. You can see that i answered some stuff but have no idea on other questions.

Im asking your help.

I attached a copy of my assesment sheet.

Firstly I would like to comment on your assignment, which I think is not difficult at all and with a weighting of 10%, don’t loose sleep over it!
Now choosing E-Mail, nice choice, it is a simple thing which is very common and you won’t have trouble talking about it. Some of the things I see from the scans you provided like Bluetooth, GPS, SMS…..those are really crap topics and the people who are doing them will find that they have just dug themselves a hole and also what I like about E-mail is that it is a focus topic, a requirement of the syllabus!

A site which has a lot of information which you will be interested in
http://computer.howstuffworks.com/email.htm
a) Data source…..User input
Transmitter….computer internet access….modem….isp
This is simple…I am not going to do your work for you……dream on……thing about it and research it yourself
b) Transmitting/Rec…User send through internet to isp
Organising….can be user putting in subject to sort and organise
Analysing…..yeh just follow textbook examples and relate to the seven Info process….display, store/retrieve, process, collect
c) Handshaking is related to when you are connecting to an ISP, for email you would say that when the user logs on to send an email, there is a handshaking process, error checking is simple! When you type an email what do you check? Spelling? Ok that’s more human error checking…..others can be a character check to see if the entire message was sent through to the user…error checking as in when a user sends an email and request for a receipt (make sure that message was received)….
d) There can be a combination of topologies. Email can be internal – that is, it is within a given company where it has it’s own email server, an independent message server….like email but not exactly (still it’s electronic mail, just not hotmail mail)….
Then there is the world wild web email…..what topology is that?
e) Problems with people reading other people’s emails, security, encryption, passwords, user accounts, privacy, company email checkers…
List goes on, hmmm, limitations of email, no personal contact, message can be interpreted in a way not meant to (misunderstood), message can be badly received, message can get deleted accidentally…it’s up to you making up BS
Maintenance of email server, ensure it is reliable, fast, has required backup system

You haven’t exactly ‘answered’ some of the ‘stuff’
LOL one hour speech! I would so take that option if I was given the opportunity back in high school…..yeh I’m crazy but I could seriously go on for over an hour just on email
