My bro's comp. died ... wouldnt start up .... errors in the win32 folders .... sometimes we could get to the choose ur name screen of XP but it wanted to 'activate XP' even though we have had it wokring for yrs ... whatever u press it restarted anyhow.

f8 ---> to last know good working configuration didnt work. Boot up disk didnt work, chkdsk didnt work. Could get into safe mode but sonn restarted by itself. Tried to reintall windows XP but there were errrors every few seconds and later culdnt even get back into safe mode.

Finally format the drive and try to reintall XP fresh and every few seconds it tells me that file could not be copied properly. Retry, Skip, Quit.... not much options. It says for them:

"The file that setup put on ur hard drive is not a valid windows XP system image. If you are installing from a cd there may be a problem with the cd" ... piss to that i have 2 different perfect ones and there is nothing wrong with them... 2 different drives as well and they are fine...

WTF do i do?!

It sounds like there is a problem with your hard drive. Is there a second drive in the machine you could use ? Is the current drive/machine still under warranty?
