ok hi

umm i dont really know much about how the hsc marking thing works but umm i do know that in your school assessment, your ranking in your school is important not your school exam marks.

if that is so, then wouldnt going to a selective school be in fact a disadvantage? wouldnt getting into say, the top 5 or 10 in a subject be harder at a selective school then at a comprhensive school
becuase even if you were smart, instead of topping your grade in another normal school, you might instead get a average rank at a selective school. would being average in a selective school screw up your uai beacuse your ranking is lower??
but then that cant be true, or else why would so much people apply for selective schools
can someone please tell me how this crazy thing works??

well the standard at a selective school is higher because the kids are meant to be smarter. getting a rank outside top 20 at ruse may be no.1 by a long way at a pleb school. part of the scaling process also looks at how the cohort does collectively.
