Hey People, I was away from school last week and the class got an assignment. When I came back on monday the teachers hands me the assignemnt and the due date is this friday! I argued for a bit but couldn't get an extension...Anyone know what the board of studies minimum allowed time for an assignment is?

The teacher should give u an extention if it is an official assessment task, pretty sure the Board of Studies requirement is 2 weeks for any official assesment task. If your teacher won't stand to reason i suggest going to the head teacher or curiculum co-ordinator.

I would think it should depend on the reason for your absence. Authorised absences, such as illness or such, should be fine. However, if you were just wagging and the teachers knew that, I don't blame them. But yeah, if you had a valid reason, go to the head teacher for the subject.

Yeah...that sucks...sometimes they give us the assesment notice a week before and says that you were 'notified' in the school assesment schedule...but really, we don't have the task then so how are we gonna work on it (if it's an assignment)? I still believe they should give us a 2 weeks in advanced notice about it. So theres no freaking out the day before.

I think the board of studies requirement is 2 weeks. However, same thing has happened to alot of ppl at my school. Teachers dont give them an extension coz they argue that it is the students responsibility to ensure they are informed of any assessment tasks (ie.by asking friends/teacher what they missed while they were away).

If it's easy then don't worry about it. :)

It's towards the end of your HSC course, and teachers are beginning to rush with assessments and all.
