Conics: Derive formula or use formula's (1 Viewer)

Well i was wondering for conics, are we allowed to directly use the formula's of tangents, equation of chord of contact and etc or do we have to derive them on the spot.

And is it easier to use formula's directly or derive them

Which way would be easier and most effective

its like parametrics in 3u, questions i) or ii) would always ask you to derive tangents/normals/chords etc which leads you onto the next. if you're doing repetitive questions i guess u can just state it but its good prac because they will always ask u to in exams
