I have a lecture on tues from 1-2 and a seminar/tut from 2-4 with the 2 located approximately 5 minutes walk from each other.

Do lectures usually go overtime? And should I request a change anyway?

Don't know bout USYD but at the gong the lectures ALWAYS finish early anywhere between 5-10 minutes early. If that is the case you will be fine...
4 hours is a long time to stay attentive, really it's up to you whether or not to request a change

No. Class usually finishes 5 minutes early and starts 5 minutes late.

I do 5 hours straight.. Can we eat during tutorials ? Lectures are not a problem cause we can sneak in the occasional meat pie amongst the sea of students..

dont change - if anything consecutive lectures and tutes are good - they force you to stay for the next one instead of pissing off in your break. you should be ok eating in your tutes as long as you dont make too much noise or mess :p

Yeah, I have six hours straight on Wednesday and I have no trouble with it. It is fine because sometimes you finish a bit early ad have twenty minutes to waist, which is enough. I would rather go to University and then go straight home and have as much time as possible to do whatever I want. Plus, I know someone who is doing nine hours straight:).
