Converting images (1 Viewer)

How do you convert bmp's to jpeg, gif or png. Can you use ms paint, ms picture manager OR do I have to use photoshop (im not very good with photoshop, and its a bitch to use)

You can use paint, photo editor, or any other program that can save to JPG. It makes no difference.

Jpeg compression in Paint is downright ugly. I recommend InfraView, which is this fantastic (read: the best) free image viewer. It has basic image editing functions too. It allows you to save an image in a plethora of different formats including JPEG, GIF, PNG and TIF. Like in Photoshop, you can adjust the quality/size settings to gain the perfect balence. The program is only a 800kb download, so its well worth checking out.

Modifying the file extension has its uses, mind you. If you're underage and there's an image/collection of images/movies that you don't want other users (parents) to view, you can simply change the jpeg, wmv,mpeg extensions to ".txt".

What happens if it is ascii porn?

they're just images created by using plain text...
I usually place my "jpg wmv avi mpg" into a .rar archive and password protect it.
