These things look pretty amazing. They essentially have hyperthreaded a Quad Core. They've also changed the Frontside bus, the pipe carrying communications to memory. It's capacity is now immensely larger. APC akins it to a powerful engine being fed by tiny fuel lines, but then being fed by an Oil Pipeline.

Over a Quad Core of equal Mhz it had a 35% gain with 3DMark Vantage, 16% gain with 3DMark06, 39% Gain with 32M W-PRIME, 40% gain with 1024 W-PRIME, 14% CINEBENCH 64-BIT SINGLE, 25% CINEBENCH 64-BIT MULTI, 40% gain in Crysis framerate, 22% Gain in single WINRAR, 44% gain in multi WINRAR, 43% Gain in Memory read, 39% Gain in Memory write and 54% Gain in memory copy.

AMD Eat your heart out. That's brutal!

What do you mean by cross platform comparatives exactly?

And of course we'll have to wait for them to write software... most software developers haven't bothered to write for 64-bit operating systems yet... they're too fat and lazy!

A) Devs are lazy because they won't write 64 bit shit;

Name two benefits of moving to 64 bit that can be realised today?

I want actual information rather than WHITE BOX A BEAT WHITE BOX B AT THESE RANDOM TASKS WITH NO FURTHER INFORMATION.
I can tell you more about the thing if you want... it WAS just a basic overview...

Here's the online article that peaked my interest... there are more interesting articles on it though...

http://apcmag.com/first_look_intel_core_i7_and_x58_express_chipset.htm

EDIT: I do multi-track recording all the time... and I would like to have access to more than 3GB of RAM thankyou very much... as when you're recording 12 tracks for about 20 minutes of jamming... onto a non PCI or PCI-e interface like Pro-Tools HD you start to run into some problems with audio.

Also editing larger video files would be made easier with the access to more RAM... to name two things.

Also, the fact that Vista takes up so much RAM on its own would be nice to have access to the extra RAM... particularly when you're playing Benchmark games like Crysis or somesuch,

And RAM is only 1 of the benefits of 64-bit systems

Ease up kid, buy yourself a proper hardware solution and your dual core can run that easy.

Try an Onyx Firewire 1200...

And I don't run into problems with the processor... it is the memory that gets it... once I go over about 8 minutes then I go into problems. It can't buffer the audio... it just starts to chew up all the pf... and then eventually the program freezes. It's the same with both Tracktion, Cubase LE and ProTools.

Stop running Vista then.

Fuckwit.
