It could just be the price diff of the chips and all..
they say that FSB will matter much more now..
i can get (wholesale) an AMD XP 2500+ (366mhz FSB) for the same as a CELERON 2.6 (duno FSB speed, but i kno its half the AMD internal cache)..
but double it and u get a pentium 2.4 800mhz FSB.. (which is discontinued and so 2.6 will take its place in the price range)
but the FSB is more than double the speed (@ 800mhz) and is also a faster overall chip.. with a higher life expectancy (not that computers stay new for long) and less likely to overheat.
its a tough batte here. AMD's next moves will show if they stay decent. They are a good cheaper chip. Im an AMD man cuz im CHEAP... and if i had the decision of Athlon or Celeron.. i think we all go with AMD... but atm.. pentium is ahead by a bit...
As for cases.. more ventilation could be done. no problems.
spend extra $50 on cooling and they b sorted... so im a lil shakey on sayn that thats a problem for dell.
