Hi all

I am at CSU this year (just starting out) and I got an email from a girl at ANU that I can do a mid-year entry into BInfTech if I want to.

Now this is the exact same degree title I am doing at CSU via Distance (As I work full time to pay my way!)

Is it worth it going to ANU for the reputation thing over CSU or not? I didn't see this dilemma coming whatsoever and now I dont know wtf to do...

hello - no I don't think the ANU does distance ed...so a safe bet is no. My enquiries have lead me understand that it is on-campus at ANU or none at all :D

I would go with ANU.

It would be pretty difficult to go through as a first year in any course and uni via distance...on the other hand, if you are working full time, you will have to cut down your hours or drop down to part time.

yeah I have been saving a bit so I have cash to fund myself for the most bit...I am a little worried that ANU will be soul destroying and "omg this is f-ing hard" all the time.

i understand you don't learn without challenges, and of course I am going to uni to get an education, but worried about major stress attack going back into full time study

:bomb:

Yeah but it would also be pretty stressful studying via distance, having a problem and not being able to talk to someone about it face-to-face. I went to CSU last year and it's a great uni, but I know a few people who did some subjects via distance and they found it so difficult being unable to talk to their lecturers and other students doing the subject...there's only so much a unit forum can do!

Yeah that's very true. I chose CSU for the flexibility given my work circumstances, but given this opportunity at ANU, I am considering what I should do. Even with a UAI of 90.60, I have this creeping suspicion that everyone will be way smarter and get it all quicker than me...insular but a fear none the less. Call it the fear of being inferior!

Out of interest, what did you do at CSU?

Hahaha I can completely empathise with you, but it was reassuring to know that some people in my course who got UAIs of 90+ and failed subjects that I got distinctions in.

I did B Social Science (Psych)/B Teaching (Secondary), but I HATED teaching, so I transfered to a course closer to Sydney and now I'm doing B Business/B Info Systems:)
