current reproductive technology altering path of evolution (1 Viewer)

How can current reproductive technologies 'alter the path of evolution.' i can understand how they can lead to a species having no genetic variance and then easily become extinct by an environmental change, but how do they influence evolution, or is extinction a form of evolution.

I got this question out of a past papers book the answer does not mention evolution at all, anyone got any ideas?

Artifical selection>so it changes the path which characteristics are selected and appear in the next generation of the population, altering the path of evolution by natural selection.

Dog breeds are a classic example. Look at the diversity of varieties & prevalence of health problems in different species; eg- breathing problems in pitbulls.

But don't use that one, or it'll make be look stupid. Maybe do cats instead.
