I am actually confused as to what this is.
Will search again but it seems very watered down on USYD website.
Does anyone possibly have a rundown of the entire thing : p

The Dalyell Scholars stream is essentially USyd's way of distinguishing high-achieving students. Students who achieve an ATAR of 98 or above (or a lower ATAR under an admission pathway) are automatically eligible for the Dalyell Scholars stream. It offers a number of benefits that would not be accessible to students who are not Dalyell Scholars, including:
  • The ability to complete advanced units that are part of your degree at an earlier stage, which USyd describes as accelerated learning options. There is also the opportunity to complete units outside of your chosen field of study to expand your knowledge and skills. USyd describes such units as enrichment units.
  • Access to the Mathematical Sciences program, which is a pathway to accelerated or advanced study in mathematical sciences. This program constitutes a foundation for Honours/further study, although its relevance will depend on your chosen field of study.
  • Access to mentoring and professional skill development. This can be good if you wish to expand your knowledge beyond academics. It involves being allocated to a small group with a mentor in your third year
Overall, it would be good to enrol in the Dalyell Scholars stream if available as its benefits are significant and can be turned into genuine graduate advantages if taken seriously, although this does not make it a crucial part of a student's university studies. This means that a student can excel at their studies and in their career, regardless of whether they were a Dalyell Scholar.

I hope this helps! :D

what dalyell scholars actually does is replace your 6 units of OLEs with 12 units of dalyell (i.e. 2 subjects). the dalyell subjects are a bit mid tbh, some are decent/bludges but most are sorta vague fluff. you also can get 2k if you go on exchange which is a little nice but not huge. theres some weird mentoring/skills stuff which seems fine but its just a little thing in a later year. imo just accept dalyell if you get offered it during enrolment and then its super easy to drop later on, but don't let it sway ur choice between unis

btw lmk if you need any help picking between dalyell units later on, i've heard about most of them through friends + done one so i can tell you whats decent
