They had this at miranda the other night.
So fucking shit. Greater union can go fuck themselves if they try to move me because I'm in the wrong seat because I got to the movie 10 minutes late and my friends were designated away from me.

It's really gay, especially when you go into an empty theatre, sit down in the best seats, and get told to move by the only other group of people in the theatre.

First in best dressed, I say. You should get priority seating based on when you get in the theatre, not when you get the ticket.

They have designated seating now? That's stupid. First come first serve, I say.

WOW! That is really unfair especially after you paid for the ticket then can't sit next to your friends during a 1.5+ movie because of designated seating, that in itself could cause more problems having people away from the friends getting more angry etc. I support first come best seated and if your friends want to save a seat thats fine too.

The cinema i work at ( a little independent one) has allocated seating on its bargain days (tuesday, friday, sunday: all tickets $7) However, u get to choose ur seat when u buy ur tickets. So in a way the idea of "first in, first served" is still adhered to. Rather than "first to push to the front of the line, first to choose their seat". I think the main reason it is done is because there are many people who have a phobia of sitting next to people they dont know. It is understandable in some ways but if u look at it from the cinemas Point of view then the computer could say that there is, say, 60 seats left in an auditorium but they could be all singular seats. that spells great trauma for the staff who will be financially at a loss because people like to sit with their friends/family. So by allocating seats at the purchase of the tickets, more people can be fit into the cinema which makes a lot of financial sense when ur running a busy session.

However, if there is only, like, 10 people in a movie then i dont agree with enforcing the "allocated seat rule". When ushering i tell the people that they can sit wherever they like. It's one thing to get money from the customers by cramming them in, but we need the customers to feel as if they are respected, and a little bit free considering they go to the movies to relax.
