I have an exam Monday night on "Communications" but my notes and textbook were in my bag which was stolen from my fathers car a few nights ago, so I was hoping to get a copy of the notes from my teacher on Fri but he wasn't there so I narrowly managed to borrow another comp teachers text book for the weekend but Im still afraid it wont cover half as much as the 30pgs of notes I had ,would!
Im doing an excelled course of IPT (Im a yr 11 student sitting my hsc for this course this year) and I would appreciate it if anyone could possibley give me the suggested key components of the "Communications" topic, that I should consider looking up on the net to make sure I dont miss anything, or any information at all that might be helpful, we've only studied this topic in about 3 classes and I personally am finding it the most difficult yet, so I have this feeling Im going to fail anyway, but more-so due to my lack of study resources.

Thankyou in advance to anyone who might be able to help me! :)

I considered accelerating in IPT last year, although one accelerated subject was enough (2U maths) :)

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but I hope everything sorts itself out and works out for the best :)

The first point of reference, if you don't have any notes, would be to download this file:

http://members.optushome.com.au/fatmuscle/notes/ipt.zip
Specifically, there is a communications (core) summary in there.
You will find it invaluable for your predicament.

Secondly,
Visit: http://www.boredofstudies.org/view.php?course=18
if you haven't already :)

You will find plenty of trial exams, glossaries, summaries, and heinemann solutions to the text.

I highly recommend fatmuscle's HSC notes, details can be found at:
www.geocities.com/fatmuscle/HSC
(The first link I gave will cover everything you need when it comes to Communication Systems :))

Charles Sturt University (CSU) is also another good place for IPT questions and last minute revision, you will find it at:

http://hsc.csu.edu.au/ipt/comms_systems/

Best of luck, and happy IPT studying :)
All the best Goddess.

Huy, I think I love you! LOL :) Your a life saver, I hope you know that! :)
I think I'll be able to take the exam at a later date, thankfully, so this will all be great study material, I especially like optushome.com file/s , its proving to be extremely helpful!

If I get longer time to study Im confident that I might not fail thanks to you! :)
So yes! :) Thankyou so very much! :)

Not a problem.

The only study I did prior to my CSSA IPT Trial had been reading fatmuscle's (aforementioned) notes/pdf-summaries. They were all printed out by my teacher for us and we read/highlighted them in class.

It's not my usual method of studying for IPT, however it shaved about 4-5 hours of 'normal' IPT study that I would normally do, before an exam.

You'll pass with flying colours, just go into the exam full of confidence and knowing that you've tried your best, you've studied hard, you've put in the effort and in the end, the mark that you will receive would be higher than what you would have received if it hadn't been for all that studying! (I hope that made sense) :)

i.e.
Without any study = 65% tops from recalling long-term memory only.
With study = 75-80%+, recalling short and long term memory. You might even surprise yourself with 90% to 95%

My usual routine for IPT studying:
5pm - 12pm: Reading the Heinemann IPT textbook
Getting to bed at about midnight, or thereabouts.

Getting up at 5 or 6am in the morning.
Flicking through the textbook on areas of weakness.
Reading and memorising sentences/key definitions.

I'd do this until about 8, 8:30am and then I'd take a shower and get to school ready for the examination. Here's another tip: don't involve yourself in the pre-exam 'bitch' sessions, where others are either saying:

a) I'm going to fail! HELP!
b) How much do you know?
c) Let me test you, or you can test me
d) All of the above?

It'll only distract you, and you're better off staying home, arriving 5-10 minutes before the exam begins and concentrating on revising your work, learning a few things (although this is not recommended, cramming before an exam), and feeling confident about yourself.

Good luck once again :)

Do you go to my school?

That's because you've never used one well enough to understand them.

My advice Peter? Learn how to "master" Windows before you bag anything else out, because it seems as though you haven't figured everything out yet.

ibooks, powerbooks, G3s, G4s, G5s,

I would personally buy:

1. a 17" widescreen iMac (lamp model)
or
2. an iBook preferrably 12" :)

15" LCD iMacs are $2500 or so
you might as well throw in another grand,
17" LCD iMac (widescreen, have you seen these displays?? they're magnificient!)

blows my 17" LCD (Acer) out of the water, but im not complaining.

iPods are nice, but i'd prefer to buy standard storage disks (hard drives) and pop them into the G4/G5 chassis/case.
