Are they:

-Differences in difficulty (because of the advanced courses)
-Adv is more research-based
-Normal Sci is more flexible than Sci (Adv) but not to a high degree

Generally the advanced course requires a higher ATAR.

You can choose the same subjects in both courses, but Sci (adv) requires the advanced units and certain WAM. You can do the advanced units in a science degree.
