am confused about what each of those journey specify because somehow I find that they appear similar...

My opinion of Imaginative journey is that it is about someone or something which uses imagination in its process of changing and by imagination I mean things which cannot be achieved in the contemporary world such as the pyramid in the ivory trails and magic used in the tempest. The result is what is confusing me because an imaginative journey usually changes how an individual perceive certain circumstances through imagination such as doing something they would not do before this imaginative journey and probably emotional, personality changes.... right...?

Then isnt inner journey about the mind and its complexity? The result is also about personality and emotional changes as well... right?

Am I being too narrow about the definition of each... I really don't understand the main difference and also my grade is supposed to do imaginative journey but since I find it similar to inner journey im really stuck.

Say the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad which I found out it was in the supplementary section relating to imaginative journey, isnt it supposed to be about Marlow exploring the darkness of human nature and the minds/ideas of imperialism and the taking over of Africa? Isn't that more likely to be a physical/inner journey?

I know what i said may sound really incorrect and thats because im confused, please help me clarify the difference between imaginative and inner journey. Thanks

its confusing but good to see that youre thinking about all this already.

I considered imaginative journey to include any event which involved imaginative, intellectual engagement with some sort of stimulus to creat meaning, therefore make it a valuable experience. Its very broad which leads to confusion with inner. it would be easier never to think about inner journeys at all. Dont let yourself get confused.

But you definition of imaginative journey is fine. Imaginative is all you need to focus on.

The wonderful thing about AOS is it is what you make it. Mould it into your arguement and youll be fine. Dont think about inner journeys... boring. Imaginitive has soooo many more possibilities. I havent read it but if you think its applicable it probably is.

Physical, imaginative and inner journeys are all interlinked. Nearly all imaginative journeys contain inner journeys, so don't worry too much about having a strict definition for each kind of journey. If you're doing imaginative journeys, you only need to worry about that focus.

Think of an imaginative journey as a 'journey of the mind'. The person does not go anywhere but his mind does. An inner journey is one on which a person moves from one point of understanding to another.
