if we're not supposed to just list the conventions of the genre, how are we meant to discuss them? are we, like, meant to just slip them in places (eg. As with most tragedies, the hero in RT is usually a male. The character Medea challenges this convention.) OR do we state a convention and then discuss it in the texts we've studied?

ok, keep coming back to context- some conventions change because of context- instead of excplaining that there are these convention in this RT and there are these conventions in this RT, link them to how the context shapes the conventions eg. Roderigo does not die in The Cid because Corneille context allowed Ximena and Roderigo to marry whereas in Spainsh contexts Rodreigo would die because honour and love could not co-exist, butin French context honour and love CAN co-exist. Also, Corneille provides through his context a comparison between Cardinal Richeleau and Roderigo (the perfect political animal vs the perfect knight). Yes Leasha, i have been listening in class, although most of the time its pretty useless.
