Just wondering if they do so (i.e. get top finishers in a subject and contact them with job offers)?

I believe it does happen at uni (say the top 12 students get 'poached' by top firms), according to what I've heard.

Yes stazi, it DOES happen. :)

Information gets circulated around industries pretty quickly.
Obviously, you will need the marks. (fuck)

That happened to a family friend before th IT bubble burst. A FEW companies were actually bidding for him...LoLz.

Just looking at his transcript makes my penis shrink.

Companies can not access your results it is against the privacy laws.

At UNSW the companies usually contact the lecturers who then forward the companies request to students via email. It is then up to students as to whether they then approach the company. A lot of students (not just the top 10% or so) at UNSW engineering get jobs this way prior to the end of their final year.

Awesome :) That's what I'm hoping for, and what will ultimately decide if I do honours. I'm topping 1/2 marketing subjects i'm doing atm and think i can top my 2nd one too if I keep at it. But then again there's the issue of another 3 years of topping subjects, which will prove difficult

It does :(..

Seriously, if you continue topping, the school of marketing will catch on, and you'll probably also be offered a tutoring job with the school, which will be good experience on your CV

3 years does fly.... I just want to know how fast my other 3 years will go.

And one of my friends ended up being the target of a bidding war between ze Deutsche Bank and Macquarie Bank... he ended up with huge astronomical money.

But that's all irrelevant now considering he chucked it all in after working 2 years and went and opened up his own fish and chips shop.
