Umm... this is the first dot point for the last focus of chemical monitoring.. can somebody please tell me what test you would use to determine the ammount of Dissolved Oxygen in a river... including equations.. thanx

either using a probe (recommended) or winkler method:

2MnSO4 + 4OH- + O2--->2SO4 2- + MnO(OH)2

ppt is treated with excess iodide
Mn(SO4)2 + 2I- --->Mn2+ + 2 SO4 2- + I2

then I2 is titrated with thiosulphate:
I2 + 2S2O3 2- --->S4O6 2- + 2I-

use starch as an indicator...
