I'm having trouble memorising quotes for my test next week. Am I allowed to just say part of them not the whole thing?

I wrote my essay today. The question wasn't very broad but I managed to write a little bit over 3 pages. The question was:

'Explain The Ending Of The Novel'

I was like wtf at first but I figured it out luckily and I talked about the events leading up to the ending and how Jane has become a better person after the events.

Hopefully I got at least 70% fingers crossed.
