Do you need to pass a subject to drop it? (1 Viewer)

According to my teacher you need to pass the subject (above 50%) to drop it. Is this true?



I live in NSW, if that matters.

No, that isnt true. Another one for the "ridiculous things teachers tell students about the HSC" list.

Yep, just like your cohort has absolutely no affect on your mark and scaling plays absolutely no role in determining your ATAR. I don't know why teachers think it's awesome to lie to already stressed HSC students, but as enoilgam said, that's a load of bull.

No ... I have never heard of that. Generally if you're doing relatively well in a particular subject you want to drop they would advise against it.

Nope not that but to complete 12 units (assuming you are in year 11), you need to pass that subject otherwise repeat it I think if you fail :( I think.
