Im wondering whether or not I should drop the subject for next year. Or whether it was a good choice in the first place.

These are the subjects I'm currently doing:
English Advanced, Extension 1 English, 1U Religion, 2U Mathematics, Biology, PDHPE, Society&Culture.

So far, Society is my best subject (Ive gotten full marks for two assessments and I'm ranked 1st ) but I'm doing quite well in everything else too. Maths is my worst subject.

I don't think it would scale you down. =/ I hope not lol. The PIP is worth 30% of the HSC, our teacher says if you do a great PIP it will really boost your UAI up.

if you do well, it wont matter how it scales.
you seem to be pretty confident with it as a subject; never ever drop or choose a subject based on its scaling. decide based upon your performance and your enjoyment of the course.
Its a good subject that is, at SCU (Southern Cross Uni) here anyway, very widely rated by teachers as something students aspiring in sociological/pyschological/community service should will be an advantage to, just in terms of thought process

And for the record, it doesnt scale horribly. Its a hard course with a major work that contributes significantly to your internal assessment mark. You will be rewarded for the hard work you put it.

It isn't scaled too attrociously. For society and culture (which is usually scaled pretty average compared to other subjects), I would guess that scaling won't affect you very much around a mid-high band 6.

Once you break the band 6 mark for most subjects though, subject scaling really starts to fade in importance.

True. But some really bad scaled subjects are bad all the way through, no matter what mark you get. :D

Basicly all subjects scale bad when you don't get a band 6, except for some obscure languages and 4U math. But it's not like band 6 is hard to get. :D

And ex history Im fairly sure. Not as well as 4umath, but up there.

main point - do subjects you love, because those will be the ones you do best in.
