I'm not sure about USYD but at ANU we have a college p2p network. Everything is free, and downloads at 3mb/sec, there are usually about 7 terrabytes of data available at any one time.
This is what neo_m said in a post. Was wondering if usyd has the same.

hmm so how would that work. Via wireless networking? Would there be mp3's movies etc on the system?
How would I connect if i wanted to try it out via a laptop?
It's just that I'm considering moving out for next year or possibly next semester

I'm not to sure on that. I think it is a PABX (not 100% sure on the name) phone system, that would be the main limiter in it. Nothing stopping you dialling out with a modem however.

can anyone connect to it from outside of uni? Or from the uni wireless network?
Or does it have to be through ethernet

so where exactly is the network?
DSL is cheaper then paying for each megabyte. I'm guessing a lot of the stuff on the network is downloaded, and I usually download 40+gb a month

no u can't connect

why would you want dsl anyway? the uni network is cheaper and faster, unless you are downloading a lot of shit - and I wouldn't see why you need to with the amount of stuff on the network.

I don't think SUV has a network. Not sure but.
Yeah it does. Not too much on it though.

Which network? :p

There is an SUV one, Pauls, Andrews, Wesley, I'm presuming International House as well. Possibly ones at the female colleges.
