Dowloading MP3's should not be illegal. It is a victimless crime (don't say that the music industry is a victim; they have got money coming out of their ass). I hope Kazaa defeats the prosecutors in their trial over facilitating the piracy of music. Really, its CORPORATE GREED Vs. a good old aussie company tring to make a buck.

Thats just like saying....that copying CDs should not be illegal and should be given out to anyone who wants them.

Nonon...wait...some dude photocopies your homework and gives it out to people and it has your name on it.

Ah, downloading mp3s is not an illegal activity provided that no copyright breach has occurred (i.e., the artist allows the download to take place).

Personally I see downloading as trying before I buy. I'm not gonna waste my money one a CD that has one good song and 10 crap ones, so if I check out a few of the tracks beforehand I can be sure i'll like it. And If I dont, I just delete the songs.

Nice try. But if everyone was like you, we won't need laws.

If you really respect a band you should buy there music, if you download just keep in mind you are stealing and get over it.

i reckon that the artists make a lot of money already and that downloading music isn't illegal. That is just like saying that listening to music on the radio is illegal.

I always download music to try out new artists. If I like it then Ill buy it.

I dont see what record labels/artists are complaining about. Downloading programs allows their music to exposed to a wider audience. If people like what they hear, theyll buy it. If they dont, then what have the record labels/artists lost? Nothing. If anything they would have only benefited from being exposed and letting their presence be known.

As for shitheads like Metallica, the reason their record sales have been slow isnt because of illegal downloading, its because youve been pumping out nothing but shit for the past 10 years :p

problem is, not everyone is like that, a lot of people download the music, listen to it, reckon its good, loads it on their playlist and mp3 player, and thats the end

Not exactly, radio is generally worse quality and hard to tape correctly considering you have little warning about which song. Digital radio may be of the required quality but copying it is hard due to the lack of warning about which song it is.

And radio pay royalities to the owners of the song.
