hey! i was just wondering if the syllabus includes this.
i.e, they give you a derivative function curve and you have to draw the original function. The hsc 2000 paper included this question but i aint sure whether its in the new syllabus.... can someone help???? thankZ!

u just integrate it...

and u should come up with a constant..

and to work out the constant, usually they tell u the conditions in the q's...(well, dun they?)

ermmmmm.... no!! its the actual CURVE... they draw the curve for you.. you have to draw the original curve looking at it.. they dont give any equations of the derivative curve...

haha....
its confusing....
you have to look for points where they cross the axis,, and stationary points, points of inflexions... it confuses me...
so im just thiknin to not study it haha

well, you nailed it there... you just have to look at the stuff you said and work out where important points are... I wasn't aware that the syllabus changed in maths... Actually i really dont think it has in quite a while...

But yeah, ive come across it many times, so we are expected to be able to draw the function from looking at its derivative (and maybe even from its 2nd derivative)
