if you're going to listen to generally mainstream music (as opposed to jazz or orchestal) any earphones will virtually do at that price. The only major variation you will get when it comes to cheap headphones are the lower frequency response (ie bass), although you probably won't be able to hear any major difference. Not that $30 earphones last very long either.

I'd have to say, save up and get nicer ones. I don't know how big of a deal sound quality is to you anyway so whatev's :)

That's why noise-cancelling headphones are win.

Mmm I love mine. Although they get too warm to wear sometimes. Overheated ears.

noise-cancelling headphones are rarely as effective as canalphones, and never as effective if they use one of those battery-operated microphones.

Incorrect, plus they're open so unless you're only using them at home you're going to annoy people

I'm glad I found this, I'm also looking, I need a new pair for trains and planes that will cut out background noise.

koss ksc-75. sound really great and got em for ~$27 from ebay. People rave about this headphone on head-fi, just google the reviews for it - all blown away by the bang-for-buck value
