I have one more question:

The question was find sqrt of (z)

Hope I did not make algebra mistake but I've got

z = something like 3x + 4

in this case

sqrt of (z) is sqrt of (3x + 4)

but do you put +/- infront?

Your description of the question is very vague.

But yes, you would normally put the plus/minus in front, unless there is some sort of condition that specifies it to be only one of the cases.
