Hey on EBAY... when you register.. you have to give personal details such as address and Phone number... does everyone see that or is it kept private?

Your details are only given to the seller you're having a transaction with.

Ebay is 99% ripoff.. make sure you check prices in stores and on the net before you buy (the bids often go up to twice what it is worth). Anyway there are some bargains to be had... and it is so addictive!

selling is a rip off cos you won't make much of a gain after you spend money advertising your item

advertising cost 50cents ... lol. How is that a rip off?

Err, 50c maybe just to list the item.
25c per picture or ~50c for gallery picture
50c for frames
$3 for bold title
$~5 for buy now feature
~1 or 2% selling commision

and it goes on. :p

OK then make sure you look at the closed auctions and see what has been successful and what has 0 bids... often there isn't much in it, only the wording you choose and having clear pictures. Also you can't lie about the item... but you can be selective with the truth ;)

You don't need a credit card to register with eBay.

If you use an "anonymous" email service like Hotmail or Yahoo eBay will ask you for those things for identification.

i didn't need a credit card to register, if you don't have one they send you a letter with a special code to the address that you typed for your details. You then goto ebay and punch the code in and you're all good.

Hm, I wouldn't call eBay a rip off if you're buying OR selling.

Really depends on what you are selling, whether you stand to make a profit or sell multiple items, or whether you're buying considerable unique stuff that you'd have a hard time finding elsewhere.

if youre willing to pay for all that crap, it can be a ripoff. so far ive sold everything i put on ebay by only paying for the lsiting fee and selling commision. for pictures, i upload onto my webspace and use html and the rest is just useless.
