hello ive just accepted the bachelor of economics degree , i want to ask when do we choose our majors? and also if i want to specialise in finance, do i need to double major? (cos i heard from friends that economics is not like commerce, its not as flexible and u have to major in economics)

Yeah I don't think you have to choose your majors yet, because you can just make your 4th subject an option subject, but you might as well just do FINS1612 first sem if you haven't decided what you're doin yet(and you're interested in finance).
It's true that you have to do at least one major in the economics area, and you can do one from the commerce side. That said, I reckon it'd be pretty easy to transfer to Commerce at the end of first year if you do want to do two commerce majors.
