Briefly..

*LAKES: causes acidification of the waterway interfering with the reproductive cycles of marine animals and potentialy causing death

*TREES: damages the leaves and roots, denudes the tree, potentialy kills it

*BUILDINGS: causes increased attack on metals and alloys causing corrosion etc, can cause structural damage

if u have cc hsc, u won't have trouble with buildings/historic heritages... there are two photographs of g. washington... the effect was obvious...

as for lakes/rivers: change of pH can lead to massacare of aquatic live forms...
trees: there's this awesoem pic in silberberg... if it's not the copy right restriction, i really want to scan it and attach it... pH changes cause the plant to die out... u can wipe out a whole forest (cf pine forest in US)

Acid rain has many marked effects

1. It increases the acidity of the soil which stunts the growth of plant life. This means that important national parks containing rare plants and pine forests are damaged.

2. The acid rain increases the acidity of lakes, rivers and seas. This effects marine life as they can only tolerate narrow ranges of PH. Thus, acid rain kills fish.

3. Bridges are made of metal. This reacts with acid rain and therefore it corrodes. The cost for repair is great!

4. Buildings and statues that are made of CaCO3 are damaged as the rain dissolves and corrodes them. Again, this has expensive effects.

its all been said, but acid rain can also increase the acidity of soil causing its most important nutrients to be leached out, stripping plants and trees of these essential nutrients required for proper growth
