and Planck’s differing views about
whether science research is removed
from social and political forces"

I think it is in my summary.

And this point is covered in jackaranda text book.

Einstein though social and political forces affected science. eg. he was hesitant about the manhattan project.

Planck believed that science was independant of social and political forces.

Don't quote me one that, long time since HSC physics.

Planks View

  1. Believed that scientific study was justified in its own right, No responsibility on how it is used
  2. Nationalist - believed in his country for his country
  3. Loyal to government policy of the day, therefore supported the Nazi war effort
  4. Signed the "Manifesto Of 93 German Intellectuals To The Civalised World." Which supported and showed justification of the invasion of Belguim
Einsteins View
    1. Believed that science research must be pursued together with a responsibility on how it is used
    2. World Citizen - not connected with any particular country
    3. No particular politics involved, he was a pacifist
    4. One of the 4 scientists who signed "Manifesto To The European." Which condemed the invasion of Belgium as an act of war.
thats my notes from class ... :)
