Does anyone know anything about this topic, in comparisons with the Planck and Mach schools of thought about the involvement of politics and science

basically one thinks science should be used for political reason and the other thinks science to stay away from political reasons. Then by staying away from politics, government don't pay them the funds while using sicence in politics makes weapons...

In the end einstein made the H-bomb and everybody was happy.
