For my assessment for Eleanor Roosevelt I am struggling to formulate a response to the question "those who are inspired by an ideal rather than self interest make the biggest impact on History". To what extent does the study of your personality support this view?
In my opinion I think that she is well remembered in history because of the achievements she has made (UN, involvements in women's rights etc) which are perceived as 'ideal' for a historical figure but also a lot of her achievements were also self-interest as after FDR's death she became more independent and pursued policies that she wanted to.
I am just very unsure of how I should approach this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also would I include historiography and how different historians view Eleanor differently due to context etc?
Thank you
