my friend picked these subs in year 11- adv eng, phys, chem, bio, 2u, 3u, SLR (counts as 1 unit). When he entered year 12, SLR was no longer his subject. So does that mean that maths extension 1 is useless as only 10 best units count and he has 11, so only way they can do this is by not counting 3-unit...The only way it can count is if he picks 4unit but i dont think he willl....so can i just advice him to drop 3 unit as he can get more time and concentrate more???

They count his best 10 units. If he does well in 3 unit, they will count half of his worst subject. At least that's what I understand

Any subject that is two units can be broken up into two one units.

Example:
92 in English (Advanced) can be seen as two units of 46/50 in English (Advanced).
Your scaled mark might be 86 in English (Advanced) and so, it will be counted as 43/50 scaled.
