How much detail did everyone go into for that question?

Can someone give me an example of what you wrote?

Appliance - Television Speakers

Transformation = electrical energy converted into sound energy

use- provides sound for the pictures on televisions.

Something like that for 3 appliances

THanks for the quick post.

Thats similar to what I wrote, but i know some people who gave a lot of detail on loudspeakers, induction cooktops, cathode ray tubes in televisions, etc.

hmmm, i dont think so, considering the amount of space that was given.
We had something similare in our trials, i got full marks.
I'm thinking 1 mark for each appliance and the final mark given for a heading for your table :D

yep i remember losing a mark in my assessment for not including a heading

Yeah I did something like that, and gave a fair bit of detail. I just wanted to make sure I got the marks, it's pretty likely that detail wasn't required.

omfg! I didnt put a heading on... If they deduct marks for that, I will spaz out.

A table structure will definetly be in the marking scheme. I doubt if you would obtain more than half marks if it isn't in a table format.

When you say heading do you mean TItle or just a heading for each column of the table

I kinda put what you guys said, but I focused more on the transformations,
i.e, 11KV from the power station -> 240V in the home;

Television:

Use: Audio and Visual entertainment.
Transformations: 240V from power outlet to internal step-up transformer which steps up the voltage to ~ 1000V. Heat and sound and light energy emitted.

Something to that effect.

Oh, and what constitutes as an appliance?

I did:

electric drill - electrical energy >> rotational kinetic energy of the drill bit
a kettle - electrical energy >> thermal heat energy of element
a toaster - electrical energy >> thermal heat energy of element
a hair dryer - electrical energy >> thermal heat energy + rotational kinetic energy of fan inside

But I didn't even realise I put four until it was pens down :/ hope they aren't harsh about that

Ah crap! :p

I also said Laptop Charger (with a Laptop perhaps) and an Air Conditioning unit.
OMG they aren't appliances either, isn't it?!

Faillllll. :p

Dw, man i used a speaker to :D . yes its an appliance, if TV is one, why isnt a speaker?
Yep, electrical energy -------> sound energy

And by heading i ment TITLE.
You had to have one :) that was like the first thing i wrote just to make sure.

it said 3 different useful energies didnt it? you have said 2, mechanical and infrared/heat

i used, fan,stove,lightbulb... was going to do microwave but lightbulb was easier
short summary of what i wrote
fan-electric-> mechanical energy due to motor effect
Stove->electrical into heat
lighbulb->electrical to heat to light

i just did tv, heater, speaker because it is easy
*TV-electrical potential energy->EMR(photon)+sound energy
*heater-electrical potential energy->heat energy+small amount of EMR(photon) [pretty sure they won't deduct marks if u didn't put the EMR part coz ur not expected to know that but u can put it just to impress the markers lol]
*speaker-electrical potential energy->kinetic energy->sound energy (it should be this because the vibration of the coating is required to produce sound energy. u might get a mark deducted if u put voltage->sound energy without putting kinetic energy in the middle because its like part of the syllabus to learn how a speaker works. it would depend on whether the marker is feeling generous or mean when he/she is marking ur paper).
And astroe, y did u put the stepping up part? that basically tells the marker that u didn't read the question coz the question specifically wanted u to state the tranformation of the TYPE of the energy occuring not the tranformation of EPD
