nah don't go usyd, their enginerring dept isn't as good as UNSW (EDIT some parts the the faculty)

UOW has an excelent engineering faculty (on par with the sydney unis)

it will also cost you alot less to live out here.

UOW is top notch when it comes to engineering, has a 100% graduate employment rate with a lot of employment coming from major engineering firms such as Bluescope Steel (BHP) and the other industrial companies in the Illawarra area.

If theres one faculty in which UOW prides itself on, it's engineering. I know I attend the uni, but theres no bias in stating that UOW is one of the best engineering departments in Australia.

I can definatley say that UoW does not offer oneof the best engineering facilities, but it is the best in Australia IMO. It does not enjoy 100% employment in only one or two of its engineering courses, it is like that in all of the types of engineering it offers, it is like this across the board.:uhhuh:

hehehe... yeahh i agree.. i goto macquarie... don't come here though for engineering... we only introduced it this year... cut off was surprisingly high though but yeah that could be due to other factors...

yeah i agree...with what all the wollongong people are saying...

sydney and uts engineering isn't very good... if you must choose out of the sydney uni's.... i guess goto UNSW :|

other than that i'de goto wollongong uni

in order of preference

Ah, providing us with a general residential location may help, as that would in all probability determine whether you attend a Sydney-based or 'regional' university and all... However, I can see that you did ask for information regarding USyd or UTS.
The only point that I can make is that if you consider USyd, then I hope that you enjoy two years of 8am lectures for maths. I know nothing of UTS (which is the way it should be).

well buddy
out of the 2 unis you wanna goto, id say go UTS.. cut offs are a bit lower than USYD, so its easier for you to get in too.

Other reasons may include...

UTS engineering has a work experience component
so if u use that to your advantage you can enter the workforce much faster, which puts you one step ahead, distinguishing you from students from the other universities.

USYD exams are generally harder than UTS, so its harder to pass at USYD.

also you say you wanna do construction, well UTS has a specialised engineering course on construction, B Engineering (Construction), where as if you went to USYD youd have to do Civil engineering as an alternative to what you want to do.

so what course do you actually want to do? there is no construction course, you're probably wanting to do civil engineering, which i am doing now and it's really good.

i'm at UNSW at the moment, and i like how it's going a lot. first year is not really civil engineering, the civil engineering happens in year 2.

i don't know if the uni has good facilities or not cause i don't have the need to ever use any...but it is a better uni than unsw for engineering.

if i had to choose a second uni i would either choose USYD or WGONG. i'd probably pick USYD cause it's closer but WGONG i've heard has a pretty good engineering school.

well the thread starter doesnt want to goto UNSW or UOW
he specifically stated he wanted to goto either USYD or UTS
so plz tell him why USYD is better than UTS or vice versa.
and no other unis.. bcoz obviously he/she does not want to goto another uni besides the 2, probably due to transport and location reasons.

peace^^

UoW also has a professional workplacement program which spans over 12 weeks. As the wording suggests, it is 'professional workplacement'. :p
