Hey,
Ive got an assignment for Advanced english (Bladerunner and Brave New World! Yuk!)
Anthow...just wanted to see if anyone can give me some ideas...starting points

" Select any idea explored in Comparative Study of Text and Context and examine this idea in relation to the set texts (Bladerunner and BNW) in a 10 minute oral presentation.
The purpose of the presentation is to help other students develop their ideas about how texts are related to literary and cultural traditions.
Imagine you are teaching this info, and engage and maintain the audience's interest."

If anyone can help me out, that would be great!

Possible ideas which discussed in my essay were:

- Momentus impact of scientific exploration and technological advances
- Divorce of humanity from nature
- The loss of what it is to be human

etc. Just blab on about it..

Yeah we discussed something quite similar to that. It was more tied with the module "In the Wild" though.

Stuff like the paradox of the relationship between humanity and nature, and how in Blade Runner the human's creation turn out to be more human themselves. You get the idea

Thats not really a discussion upon the literary or cultural tradition, rather a paradoxical event which turn up in the fiction of the book.

What absolution stated, particularly the advent of the mass production and the Industrial revolution are key factors, particularly within 'Brave New World' as Huxley alludes to it several times through his use of 'Ford.'

The advent of robots and computers, as well as space exploration and the advancements in science and technology, and the subsequent changing face of society during the 80's also serve to illustrate this cultural tradition and the context with which things occured.

For the literary tradition, the explanation of the chosen media, that of a book/novel and that of a movie, transcribe to this socio-cultural notion as a determinant. The popularity and context of the times show to illustrate the chosen media, and allow for comparisons and similarities to be drawn up, an intertextuality, despite the fact they are on different mediums.

Remember this is a Comparative Study of Texts.
