For those of you who have turned 18 or will be 18 on or before the day of the election (which will be between August 7 and 16 April next year, but likely to be on August 7) then you cannot vote unless you have enroled to vote. Enroling to vote and voting are compulsory and you can be fined if you don't.
You can enrol once you turn 17. If you are not enroled once the election is called (which could be as early as tomorrow - Thursday) then you only get a few days to enrol before the electoral roll is closed and you will not be able to vote.
For those of you that have not enroled or have a form from the AEC (some high schools and universities will provide you with them) then you can download and print one off from here:
http://www.aec.gov.au/_content/what/enrolment/forms/nsw.pdf
Then post it off, you don't need a stamp.
