Is it sufficient to use the shorthand for a description of the cells?

IE:
Dry Cell:
Zn| (ZnCl2), NH4Cl | MnO2, C

Silver Oxide:

Zn, ZnO | KOH (paste) | Ag2O, Ag

???? Or do we have to be able to draw crappy diagrams?

You've got hours:
Anode: Zn + 2OH- ---> ZnO + H2O + 2e-
Cathode: Ag2O + H2O + 2e- ---> 2Ag + 2OH-
