Does your essay draft need to be as long as your final copy and does it need a synopsis. I'm really stuck and need help asap.

given the amount of time to go i wouldnt bother making it fit perfet to requirement yet. just develop arguments
my first draft is missing 2 sources and is 2000 over. basicaly its just my analysis of each with a vaugue argument. way too much detail on each but IMO this early its just useful for getting thoughts down on paper and will bear little resemblance to my finished thing

I would say no, and no. I think my draft was actually as long as the final essay, but I completely rewrote it from the draft anyway. Veridis is right, you should be basically trying to develop your basic arguments, don't worry about making it polished or anything - though in writing it you should be able to get some indication of the depth you'll be treating each point, so at least make it reasonably close to the right word limit. Your teacher should be fairly flexible though, the syllabus doesn't stipulate any of this stuff specifically.
