Hey guys, i've got a essay to hand in for Russia question is as follows:

"The Soviet authority will at once propose a democratic peace to all nations and immediate armistive on all fronts. It will safeguard the transfer without compensation of all land- landlord, imperial and monastery to the peasant committees; it will defend the soldiers rights, introducing the complete democrazitation of the army; it will establish workers' control over industry; it will ensure the covocation (election) of the Constituent Assembly on the date set; it will supply the cities with bread and the villages with articles of first neccessity."

To what extent were the ideals articulated by the Bolsheviks in the extract above implemented successfully between October 1917 and the end of the Civil War(1921)?

OK so what im needing help with it the actual structure of the essay. I dont know were to start, could anyone shed some light on this for me, just like

1. intro- look at this
2. Body- look at this.... etc.

thanks in advance

No need for the inlcusion of the taking of power by Bolsheviks. If you do, make sure it's a very minor part of your essay. You might wanna start your intro by saying how the Bolsheviks did indeed try to uphold most of their promises, but were forced to break many of them in order to maintain their power. Or you can say that they never intended to keep their promises (if you do, you'd wanna give a source).
The Bolsheviks lost roughly 1/4 of their land to Germany including 1/2 their industry. This should be a major point. It's important to note that they still achieved the 'democratic peace to all nations' so that part was successful.
At first the army was 'democratized', if that's what I think it means. But then as the civil war broke out, they made the Red Army which was far from democratic. Also, the cheka was formed and used to keep the red army obedient.
The Bolsheviks took all control of the industry, 'cause they believed that without their 'guidance' (*cough*dictatorship*cough*) the socialism wouldn't work.
They DID ensure the election of the Constituent Assembly (or they didn't do much to oppose it at first), but after the first meeting the Bolsheviks made sure that they never met again.
Not sure about the food one :S

Everything I said should be a separate point, with the whole 'Bolshevik tried to keep promises but couldn't because <enter reason here>' as your thesis, or whatever it's called.

with the supply of food, that leads on from the land being given back to peasants because once they get it back, they start working again... i think i will look into it
