Hey everyone,

i really need serious help! i know i sound like the biggest bludger but i've been through 10 different proposal questions (if anyone needs one ask) and all of them "aren't good enough". Originally i was going to do something on the generalship or 'greatness' of Alexander the 'Great' (tacky i know) but my proposal was denied because were doing something on him latter in 2 unit.

Anyways i really want to do something on Hannibal vs Rome as i am an big fan of the Carthaginian. i was thinking along the lines of
"Compare and contrast Hannibal and Scipio Africanus and therefore critically evaluate their greatness."
However i am having doubts as to how challenging this is gonna be so that it would be a pretty dry essay. I really want to blend in the theme of a constant stuggle between east and west and how this is personified in the epic battle against Rome.

Please, if anyone can give me constructive criticism (or just plain criticism i'm that disperate) and help me to word my focus question i would be sooo grateful. :D

hey. since i have never studied ancient history i don't really know about your topic choice but i'm assuming from the question that it would have to be a pretty long essay and it would get pretty repetitive wouldn't it? i think you should stick to the same topic area and roughly the same idea, but make it more of an emphasis on the histiography of each person's history. ie how their greatness is portrayed through different periods of history and why etc. all i know is that when all our class handed up their proposals our teacher said we weren't basing them on histiography which was pretty much the only thing they mark on. To most questions she just added a
- "why have historians viewed this......differently?" which pretty much covers all the aspects of histroy you look at it topic one. it makes it pretty tough to find info but if it gets you the marks in the end.
as i said, i really don't know but i just thought i'd put my views forward and see if it could help u in anyway or form. i'd say just check with ur teacher before u start doing any research because i researcehd a topic and then got told it was crap so had to start again and i've lost all my motivation now.
i hope i've been on some help - this reply is long!

yea im just a bit curious..this si suppose to be an essay about interoretations of history..can your topic do that..lol..u might be better to concentrate on one figure in your war..and look at how perespective of tehir "greatness" has changed over time
(might be better to looks at hannabil, cos there atleast be a difference between modern/ancient roman views) or yea something along those lines...but yea keep us updated, im intrigued now...
